Mapping Flint

The Flint Chapter of the American Institute of Architects worked on this community planning effort for the AIA 150 Flint Partnership in 2007 with the Metawanene Hills Neighborhood Association. The project is titled: “Rediscovering Community in a Flint Neighborhood” and lays out four broad areas of opportunity for the neighborhood adjacent to the Whaley Children’s Center and Hurley Medical Center focused on 1. Cook School, 2. Commercial Nodes, 3. Residential, and 4. Ramona Park.

Since 2007, Cook School has remained vacant, commercial spaces along Welch, Chevrolet, Flushing and MLK have continued to deteriorate, the water crisis caused many residents to leave, but Ramona Park has new play equipment and is managed by Genesee County Parks.
